Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a passion for engineering and the desire to be part of a team of engineers responsible for designing, developing and testing industry-leading avionics products. Our team develops Flight Display Application software and is a part of the Collins Aerospace state-of-the-art flight deck solution. As a key member of the Flight Display Application team, you will be developing and integrating software. The Collins Aerospace flight deck solution is a continuous evolving set of products which consist of different technologies. This is an onsite position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
What You Will Do:
As an experienced C/C++ developer, you will develop, test and integrate flight deck application software and flight management software.
You will be responsible for providing high quality solutions to internal and external customers.
You will typically be involved in the following development phases: Scope Planning, Architecture and Design, System and Software Requirements, Implementation, Integration and Testing/Verification as well as Certification.
You will master the technical aspects of flight deck applications, and you are actively involved in the development aspects.
You will build, deliver, and integrate software and configuration on test fixtures and rigs for various aircraft types and perform various analyses such as footprint testing.
You will support the successful execution of projects throughout the development life cycle (planning, development, and certification).
You will use CI/CD tools to build and integrate software in a fast paced Agile development environment
You will coordinate and communicate with direct team members, technical project managers, systems engineers, and product managers.
You will understand the certification aspects of the flight deck applications to successfully certify the product.
You will understand and follow processes, and you will always be learning and continuously looking for improvements.

You will learn about new industry leading development methodologies, i.e. DevOps, AI/ML assisted development and test automation and a modern tool chain.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
At least three to five years of strong C software programming and application development. You need to be able to demonstrate proficiency in C software design, implementation, debugging and optimizing C based software.
Knowledge of Python is required.
Test and Integration and code debugging experience is required.

Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience with additional programming or scripting languages (i.e. C++, Perl, Java) is desired.
Experience with embedded development is desired.
Experience with CI/CD and related tools is desired.
Experience with Git, Gitlab, Visual Studio Code, Jama, Jira is desired.
Experience with networking technologies (i.e. Ethernet, TCP/IP, Wireshark) is desired.
Experience with model-based development (i.e. Matlab/Simulink) is a plus.
Experience in Avionics and Avionics Certification is a plus.
Experience with Agile, scrum master, project management is a plus.
