Summary 2A is a 21-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit caring for critically ill adult and geriatric patients. Common diagnoses include cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, ARDS (including prone positioning), multi-system organ failure, renal failure requiring CVVHD, sepsis, and shock (septic, cardiogenic, hemorrhagic). The unit manages surgical ICU patients (lung, vascular, abdominal) and provides advanced airway management, pre- and post-coronary care, arterial/venous sheath management, wound care, and invasive/non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring. The unit also cares for pre-delivery and postpartum OB patients requiring ICU-level monitoring and may accept overflow from other ICUs.
