Summary of Job Duties: The Accounting Assistant II is responsible for adding equipment purchases to the equipment subsidiary accounting system and adjusting accounting records to reflect proper account codes for new purchases. Other duties include: process and update departmental accounting records related to equipment; investigate export control information on any new equipment purchases as well as all existing equipment; and prepare ad hoc reports, assisting auditors, and transfers.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
At least one year of experience with processing transactions in a financial system
Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the above qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in general business, finance, or a related field
Workday experience
At least one year of experience working with inventory or fixed assets
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of accounting principles and database management
Knowledge of software applications
Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and policies of assigned section
Knowledge of customer service techniques
Ability to comprehend and assimilate technical and business related documents
Ability to apply policies and procedures and other applicable regulations associated with assigned department or program
Ability to conduct research, perform quantitative quality assurance reviews, and prepare reports
Ability to communicate using clear communication skills which could include but not be limited to the following methods: personal face-to-face contact; using e-mail or other written correspondence; and through telephone contact
